Title VI Training
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin in any program receiving Federal financial assistance. As a condition of receiving Federal financial assistance, the New Jersey Department of Transportation is responsible for assuring nondiscrimination in its programs and activities, and must ensure nondiscrimination on the part of Metropolitan Planning Organizations, and county and municipal employees. Charles T. Brown, our CEO and founder, provides Title VI Training to NJDOT staff, highlighting environmental justice issues, and the disproportionately adverse human health and environmental effects federal-aid projects have had on minority and low-income populations.
